Prepare work schedules for preventive maintenance of equipment required for operations as per manufacturer recommendation.
Able to diagnose reasons of breakdown of barge equipment and be able to carry out necessary repairs in very short time. Co-ordinate and supervise all mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs carried out by barge crew.
Allocate tasks to crew members and supervise activities to ensure that safe operating procedures are followed and equipment is used within defined capacities.
Prepare scope of maintenance/repair works required for dry dock / non-commissioned vessels, equipment and installations and work in close coordination with superiors to monitor subcontracted work.
Analyse issues/faults and carries out tasks that are outside the capability of Chief Mechanic subordinates.
Promptly respond to instances such as system failure/break down and carry out repair works in a timely manner.
Operate jack-up systems as per operating manual instructions and within system limits when assigned to jack-up barges.
Keep track of inventory and liaise with Offshore Plant Engineers for the procurement of required spare parts.
Requirement
Engineering degree or equivalent.
Should have experience of working as onboard Chief Engineer.
12 years’ experience in related machinery and equipment maintenance/repairs inclusive of 3 years’ experience on construction barges, Pile top Drilling Equipment, Derrick Cranes (to 4000 Ton), Western Gear and SAS Gouda, Clyde Crane, Skagit & Caterpillar Generators Pipe laying Tensioners (50 T & Over), Steam/Hydraulic Piled Driving Hammers, High Pressure Grout Pumps, Electrical / Electronic / HVAC equipment & installations and Variable frequency drives.
Offshore rotation, 60 days on followed by 30 days off.
Must be able to work as part of a team in remote locations.
